ART
Testing Ideas Art is a great medium for testing formal ideas. Color and scale are explored in painting and drawing; ideas about structure or materiality can be tested through installation art. Composition Balanced compositions respect the media from which they are made. Aligning elements which comprise a building façade may result in a pleasing and organized composition, whereas in a painting this could have a rigid and static effect. Designing a building to look like an abstract explosion may not be a good idea, but the form makes sense as an installation in a space where kids learn to make art. On the other hand, the use of scale to create movement and drama works well whether executed in painted marks on a canvas or the fenestration of a building. |
